Lisa Black, Founder of L&L Proposals, leads a UK-based company specialising in bespoke marriage proposals, engagement celebrations, and destination weddings. Drawing on more than 29 years of experience in the wedding and events industry, she has developed an approach centred on personalisation, discretion, and carefully considered design. Recognized by Luxury Lifestyle Awards as the 2026 winner of Best Luxury Marriage Proposal Design Service in the UK, L&L Proposals reflects a commitment to individualised experiences rather than standardised packages. In conversation with the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, Black discusses the evolution of her business, the importance of client trust, and the standards shaping the future of personalised luxury celebrations.

WLCC: Your experience in weddings and events spans more than 29 years, while L&L Proposals emerged during the COVID-19 period. How did that transition influence your understanding of what clients increasingly value in significant personal celebrations?

Lisa Black: That period of time reinforced the value of meaningful moments, quality time with family and friends, celebrating love in a personal, rather than an extravagant way. To me, Alex, luxury is not just about beautiful surroundings or grand gestures, it is more about how an experience makes someone feel. It lies in the thought behind every detail, the reassurance that every moment will be taken care of, also, confidence that each marriage proposal will be handled with care, discretion and understanding of all cultural background.

This philosophy is at the heart of L&L Proposals. Every proposal no matter the scale is individually curated with the couple in mind, from the location, which is often chosen by the client, to the fresh floral designs, to personal touches that reflect each couple. We do not offer pre-made silk floral packages because no two love stories are the same.

Ultimately, clients value authenticity, personal attention, privacy and peace of mind. They want to feel listened to and understood. Put simply, couples want to enjoy one of life’s most romantic moments without the stress of organising it themselves, as we always tell clients, you cannot be in two places at the same time!

WLCC: L&L Proposals has established a model that moves away from predetermined packages. What does genuine personalisation mean to you, and how does it influence the company’s approach to luxury?

LB: Genuine personalisation begins with listening. And I love to hear how men share their love story with real joy, enthusiasm, romance and pure happiness! I get goosebumps every time. My role is to understand what makes their relationship special and translate that into an experience that feels truly personal to them.

At L&L Proposals, we are building our approach around bespoke design, and our signature use of fresh flowers & petals is at the heart of each of our marriage proposals.

Equally important, however, is the quality of the people we work with. I strongly believe that exceptional experiences are created through great collaborations, which is why we work with suppliers who I personally value, respect and connect with, like @pollyandpetals such a high standard of floristry and creativity that is expressed through phenomenal installations for weddings and marriage proposals.

Our trusted suppliers share a commitment to quality and attention to detail, like our photography partners Abul.co and Noel Yeo. These relationships are an important part of what makes us so unique, as each supplier brings their artistic perspective and understanding of our clients’ expectations.

WLCC: Discretion and trust are particularly important when planning experiences of a highly personal nature. How have these principles shaped your leadership philosophy and the culture within L&L Proposals?

LB: Ultimately, discretion and trust are more than a service; they’re how we encourage our team and creative partners to communicate thoughtfully and protect our clients’ privacy by treating every love story with genuine care and respect.

WLCC: Your work brings together creative design, fresh florals, and carefully selected locations. How do you balance artistic expression with the consistency and discipline required to deliver luxury experiences?

LB: Creativity and careful planning go hand in hand. I love bringing together beautiful locations, fresh, meaningful florals and thoughtful details that reflect each couple’s personality and love story.

However, behind every beautiful celebration is a great deal of preparation, organisation, and collaboration with trusted professionals who share our commitment to excellence.

WLCC: L&L Proposals works with an international network of planning partners and has an established relationship with the Italian National Tourist Board. How do strategic partnerships contribute to maintaining standards across different destinations?

LB: As a Founding Member of The Wedding Prive and with a trusted relationship with ENIT, we can create exceptional experiences across multiple destinations. These relationships really do reflect the importance we place on professional standards, trusted connections and a shared commitment to quality.

Through our international network, we can connect with experienced local specialists who understand their destination and bring valuable knowledge, creativity and expertise to each celebration, whether in the UK, Italy or worldwide; our core value remains the same: personalised designs, fresh blooms, elegance, sophistication and discretion. Wherever your Marriage Proposal takes you in the world, each client deserves the same personal care, and confidence that their love story will be managed to the highest standard.

WLCC: L&L Proposals has received the 2026 Luxury Lifestyle Awards recognition for Best Luxury Marriage Proposal Design Service in the UK. How do you view the role of external recognition in reinforcing a company’s long-term commitment to quality?

LB: Winning Best Luxury Marriage Proposal Design Service in the UK is a meaningful recognition of the creativity, dedication and attention to detail we aspire to at L&L Proposals.

For me, an award is not simply an achievement to celebrate; it is a responsibility to continue raising standards and delivering breathtaking experiences for every client.

Our commitment to bespoke  designs, fresh floral elegance, breath taking locations, discretion and trusted creative partnerships remains at the heart of our work

WLCC: As demand for individualised luxury experiences develops internationally, how do you assess opportunities for expansion while preserving the personal service model that defines L&L Proposals?

LB: Our vision for L&L Proposals is to grow beyond the UK, creating a seamless journey for clients from an individually designed marriage proposal and engagement celebration through to their multi-destination wedding, lets imagine your ceremony will take place in Tuscany, morning breakfast in the England then fly to Monaco for cocktail hour, and your reception in Ibiza all over a period of 3-5 days with your loved ones and close friends, experiencing the cultures, smells and taste of each country, curated seamlessly by The Wedding Prive.

Italy is an important part of L&L Proposals journey and through our international relationships, including our work with The Wedding Prive and trusted destination wedding professionals, we able to connect clients with exceptional locations and expertise while preserving the personal service they expect from us.

As a demand for individual luxury experiences grows internationally, our focus will remain on quality rather than quantity. Ultimately, at L&L Proposals, we continue to strive to become a trusted name for clients seeking a personalised celebration for their love story anywhere in the world. Our growth will be guided by the same principle: that no two love stories are the same, and every celebration deserves to feel uniquely theirs.

WLCC: Looking ahead, what broader changes do you anticipate in the luxury proposal and celebration sector, and which leadership principles will remain most important as client expectations evolve?

LB: Lisa Black’s approach to leading L&L Proposals illustrates the importance of combining creative individuality with structured planning and consistent professional standards. Her perspective reflects broader developments in the luxury celebration sector, where discretion, personalisation, and trusted international relationships are becoming increasingly relevant. The company’s 2026 Luxury Lifestyle Awards recognition provides a context for examining how specialised service businesses can maintain their identity while considering opportunities for international development.
