The latest WLCC Leadership Lounge brought together luxury leaders from across the world for an insightful conversation, meaningful introductions, and new opportunities for collaboration.

At the heart of the session was a fireside conversation with Dr. Sheetal Jain, Founder & CEO of Luxe Analytics and an expert on the Indian luxury market. The discussion explored Winning India: Understanding the New Luxury Consumer and the Strategies Behind Brand Success

Reflecting on the session, Dr. Jain shared:

“It was a pleasure to share my perspectives with such an engaged and thoughtful audience. I was genuinely overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response and insightful questions from the participants. The discussion reinforced the growing global interest in understanding the evolving Indian luxury market.”

She also highlighted the broader value of the format:

“The Leadership Lounge is an excellent platform for networking and exchanging ideas with industry leaders from around the world. The collaborative spirit of the WLCC community is truly inspiring.”

Learning from a Leading Industry Expert

Dr. Jain offered an expert perspective on why India can no longer be viewed simply as a future opportunity. While the country is still at an early stage in its luxury-market development, it is already one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury markets, supported by a rising population of high-net-worth individuals, an ambitious middle class, a young population, and strong digital connectivity.

One of the most important lessons was that there is no single “Indian consumer.” India is a vast and highly diverse market, shaped by different regions, languages, traditions, festivals, lifestyles, and consumer expectations. International brands cannot simply reproduce strategies that have succeeded elsewhere and expect the same results.

To build relevance and trust, brands need deep customer intelligence, cultural understanding, thoughtful localization, and a long-term commitment to the market. They must preserve their global identity while finding meaningful ways to connect with Indian consumers and demonstrate a genuine appreciation of local culture.

The conversation also highlighted the evolution of the Indian luxury consumer. Prestige and recognition remain influential, but younger consumers increasingly seek brands that feel meaningful, purposeful, and connected to their identity. Beyond traditional luxury products, significant opportunities are also emerging across travel, hospitality, branded residences, wellness, design, and premium experiences.

Dr. Jain concluded with three essential foundations for entering India successfully: thorough customer research, a clear understanding of the regulatory environment, and the right local partner

From Insight to Business Opportunity

The WLCC Leadership Lounge is designed to go beyond listening and learning. Following the fireside conversation, each participant had the opportunity to introduce themselves, present their business, and share the partnerships, contacts, or collaboration opportunities they are currently seeking.

Leaders representing different countries and sectors exchanged perspectives, raised thoughtful questions, and explored how their expertise and business objectives could complement one another.

The conversation was particularly valuable because participants could relate the insights to their own markets, clients and growth strategies.

Faridah Kamwesiga, General Manager of Wanderlux Safaris, reflected:

“The discussion offered valuable insights into what it takes for international brands to build relevance, earn trust and achieve long-term success in India. As we continue to position Rwanda as a premier luxury destination, these conversations will help us create more meaningful experiences for Indian travelers.”

For Nicolas Benazeth, Director of Charter at CharterWorld, the session offered valuable insight into an important potential growth market:

“It was a real pleasure to participate in another WLCC Leadership Lounge – sessions I consistently find well organized, informative and enjoyable. Gaining such valuable insights into India, a market with strong growth potential for us, was particularly interesting, and Dr. Jain was a superb contributor. I look forward to the next one.”

Philippe Mihailovich, WLCC Board Member and CEO of HAUTeLUXE, highlighted the importance of looking beyond market potential to understand the people behind it:

“It was a real highlight to hear the fascinating insights Dr. Jain shared about India and Indian psychographics. We can never know enough about India’s diverse cultures, beliefs, and aspirations, let alone local regulations and the importance of reliable partners. My interest in India has always been focused on helping Indian businesses create globally desirable luxury brands. Thank you for organizing the meeting. It is always interesting to meet new members as well.”

After the event, participants also received access to the dedicated WLCC Business Wall, bringing together participant profiles and contact details in one place. This allows members to follow up directly, continue conversations initiated during the session, and turn promising introductions into meaningful business relationships.

This is the purpose of the WLCC Leadership Lounge: to connect members with exceptional industry experts – and, just as importantly, to connect members with one another. By creating a trusted environment for learning, dialogue, and strategic introductions, WLCC helps its global community discover new opportunities and build relationships that support long-term business growth.
