Luxury spans many sectors, from fashion and automotive to hospitality, design and personal experiences. Each has its own traditions, expertise, and ways of connecting with people. World Luxury Day, celebrated on 8 October, brings these different worlds into a shared conversation about what luxury means today and what the industry values.

Initiated by the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, the day unites global leaders, brands, and luxury professionals around an opportunity to celebrate their work and learn from one another. It invites the industry to reflect on the creativity, craftsmanship, conviction, and human attention that connect its many disciplines.

The perspectives below reveal both common ground and distinct points of view. For some, the significance of World Luxury Day lies in recognising the people behind exceptional creations. For others, it is an occasion to celebrate a brand’s original vision or consider how luxury makes people feel. Together, these reflections contribute to a conversation that reaches across sectors and geographies.

Alberto Menegatti, Senior Brand, Marketing, and Omnichannel Leader, Gucci

“What I find particularly meaningful about World Luxury Day is the opportunity to celebrate these people and the human dimension of our industry. In a world that is becoming increasingly fast-paced and technology-driven, I believe that this human dimension is becoming even more important: the ability to create emotion, inspire desire, build relationships and give meaning to what we create.

I also see World Luxury Day as an opportunity to bring together different perspectives from across the luxury ecosystem. Luxury is a diverse industry, and I believe that sharing knowledge and experiences across sectors and geographies can make the entire community stronger.

Ultimately, for me, what makes luxury special is the human ability to turn vision, creativity, expertise and passion into something that people genuinely value, desire and connect with.”

Pietro Zambetti, Global Brand Creative Director, Maserati

“World Luxury Day is actually an amazing opportunity to remind us of the importance of luxury experiences and luxury brands in today’s world.

Luxury trends, behaviors, and technologies continuously change: taking a moment to focus on them and having a closer look at the industry is crucial.”

Jeremie Bernheim, Chief Marketing Officer, RAYMOND WEIL

“To me, World Luxury Day is an opportunity to recognize what truly sits behind luxury: people, knowledge and a constant pursuit of excellence.

We often define luxury by what we see: a product, an experience, a brand. But ultimately, its value comes from the people behind it: those who imagine, create, craft, innovate and pass on exceptional savoir-faire. Recognizing their contribution matters. They are the link between the heritage of our industry and what it will become next.

World Luxury Day also gives us an opportunity to look beyond individual brands and sectors and celebrate what we share as an industry. It is a moment to recognize our collective strengths, but also our responsibility to nurture talent, preserve know-how and continue raising the standards that define luxury.”

Neen James, Luxury Experience Expert & Keynote Speaker

“World Luxury Day is a reminder that we all deserve to feel seen, heard, and valued every single day. Luxury is a mindset, and today we celebrate that.

We need this day as a global reminder that luxury is experiences, not things. When we gift our personalized attention, we create advocates and a world where people feel more valued.”

Anant Sharma, Matter of Form

“The industry has got comfortable telling heritage stories. The polished version of a founder’s history stands in for the decision that started it. Ettore Bugatti got a letter of complaint once, from a customer whose brakes hadn’t stopped him as fast as he wanted. Bugatti wrote back that he built his cars to go, not to stop. That sense of self-conviction is lost in much of luxury today, flattened under the obsequious nonsense that the customer is always right.

A day dedicated to luxury should celebrate that original conviction. There’s a mercy in a brand that has made its mind up.”

Make World Luxury Day Your Own

There are many ways to celebrate on 8 October. Whether you represent a brand, lead a business or work independently, World Luxury Day offers an occasion to share what luxury means to you and recognise the people who make it possible.

“World Luxury Day gives our industry a shared occasion to celebrate its people and connect with the communities it serves. We invite brands and professionals to use this day in their own way: to thank their clients, recognise their teams, share their expertise or tell the stories behind their work. Every contribution brings another perspective to the global conversation about luxury,” says President of the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, Alexander Chetchikov.

A social media post can introduce your perspective, celebrate a colleague or reveal the care and expertise behind your work. A personal greeting can thank a client or partner. A newsletter can reconnect your community with your services, share a story from your business or highlight an experience worth discovering.

For brands, the day also provides a timely communication opportunity. Consider introducing the people behind a product, sharing a craftsmanship story, inviting clients to an experience or explaining the attention that goes into your service. These are all ways to connect the celebration with your own identity and expertise.
